On the Edge - The Coastal Strategy

“On the Edge – the coastal strategy”, which was prepared by the Local Government Association's Special Interest Group on Coastal Issues was initially launched in 2001. The strategy was regarded as a ground-breaking contribution to coastal management policy and set out for the first time a vision and priorities for one of England's most important assets - the coast.

Already, in the short period since “On the Edge - the coastal strategy” was published, pressures on the coast have intensified further. The LGA believes that the recommendations of “On the Edge - the coastal strategy” are now more relevant than ever.

A four page 'Review and Update' was produced in February 2004 in support of the original strategy document.
